Work is progressing well, despite the weather, on Brockbushes new Farm Shop. The true scale compared to the current shop (wooden building to the right) can only really be seen from the air...

Starting with one of our oldest buildings (look at the old logo) panning round to newer S&A buildings and our latest Roundhouse, bought 10 years after the first one. The Watson family near Eppleby in North Yorkshire have been buying S&A buildings for over 30 years.

It’s easy to take for granted some of the beautiful areas we work in. Take this agricultural barn being erected just outside of Leyburn with spectacular 360 degree views over Wensleydale and Swaledale. The vehicles inside this building really show off the vast scale. At 34.5m wide and 85m long, it’s one of our larger cattle buildings, recently erected for @baysleaporganic From the air you see just how big it is. #farmbuildings #cattlebuildings

Imagine being able to run your grain handling system, almost completely free of any energy costs. That’s exactly what this customer will be able to do, having just installed 418 solar panels to their new 25m wide grain store. Teaming up once again with Teesdale Renewables, they have been able to install the panels using the edge protection and netting already in place for our team installing the roof, meaning a smooth transition of work and saving costs on the installation. The building is the third one we have erected on this site, but the first to include the solar panels. Look out Cavendish, move over Hoy, we’ve got Rob Brown! Arguably the fastest person on two wheels in our business, we’d all like to pass on our congratulations to Rob, who completed the ridiculously hard Fred Whitton challenge last week, with his friends from @teesdale_crc Rob completed the 112 mile course, with 12000ft of climbing in an official time of 7hours 44minutes, which is an improvement of nearly 30minutes on his 2018 time, despite having had a child and no sleep in those 5 years! Well done Rob, from all of us at S&A Fabrications 🙌

We often talk to customers about the benefits of adding solar panels to the roof of a new building. This grainstore we have just erected for Nostell Priory @ntnostell near Wakefield have made the most of our immense 1699m2 area of roof, to install all of these solar photo voltaic panels, completely unseen from the ground, that will provide them with green energy for many years to come.

We took a drone to fly over and through one of our Roundhouse 45's to show you some of the detail from a different perspective. The cattle were not bothered one bit by the presence of the drone and remained completely relaxed in their environment.

Two brand new factory gantry cranes arrived bright and early this morning from Spain. These will be fitted over the weekend increasing our lifting capacity and enabling us to fabricate even bigger buildings! #heavymetal #farmbuildings

As part of Darlington Borough Councils town centre regeneration plans, we were asked to produce some high quality, attractive and secure trellis, grills and gates for the premises on Buckton’s Yard. These were all fabricated in house by our small fab team before being sent away for galvanising and powder coating and then fitted by our team on site

We know naked pictures aren’t allowed on social media, but we just think that this naked RH45 is so stunning we had to share it. 10 years ago this spring, the very first Roundhouse 45 was erected in West Sussex. As the name suggests, the RH45 diameter spans 45metres, providing 1616 square metres of what we believe is the best animal housing available. The RH45, pictured above, houses 100 Simmental-cross cows and 200 followers and includes a central handling system and crowd pen, which is accessible by all of the seven pens that surround it. Ever wondered how big a roundhouse 45 actually is? Well here you can see one sixth of a rafter length in our yard, next to a hilux to give you an idea of scale! They’re all ready to go to the galvanisers @josephashgalvanizing before going to site in Hull. Not the hilux, we’ve hidden that in the yard in a game of hide the boss’s car! 🤣

We had a great evening at the recent RIDBA awards in Manchester, bringing home two winners awards, for our Livestock Building in Lincolnshire and the Farm Shop at Mainsgill Farm on the A66. We were also shortlisted for our work at Darlington Farmers Auction Mart and our Estate bridge. With a diameter of 22 meters, this is the first smaller version of the Roundhouse to be built out of wood. It has space for 60 to 80 head of beef cattle and a unique feature of this Roundhouse, other than the stunning timber structure is that it has an internal watchtower. This offers a view of all of the animals in the building. Built in Holland by our European Partners ID Agro, this Roundhouse is used as part of a farm visitor attraction. A wooden Roundhouse not only looks good, but it also has many benefits from an environmental perspective and it’s great to see how this one in Holland has been reimagined to be a real business asset for the owner, Simone, and her Cow Safaris. #environmentalbuilding #timberbuildings #farmbuildings #roundhousefarmbuildings

This is Kevin, busy today welding the rainwater harvesting legs of a Roundhouse 22, due to go to Scotland in the next week or so. Utilising the built in rainwater harvesting system, roof water can be taken to a holding tank. This water could then be used as washdown water, or by utilising a UV filter, it can be used as drinking water and can have a significant impact on utility costs. We don't just manufacture buildings...we recently manufactured and erected this bridge for a customer. The bridge is 24m clear span, 3m wide between handrails for light vehicle and animal crossing. The handrail sections were formed to replicate the old fashioned style cross over pattern which is common on structures from the late 1800’s/early 1900’s.
