COMMERCIAL SERVICES
S&A offer an in-house service incorporating design, drawing, fabrication, shot-blasting, painting and erection of structural steelwork. We also design and erect secondary steelwork and fabricate steel for many uses and in addition offer the following:
- Roofing and cladding
- Painted or galvanised steelwork
- Cold rolled buildings and cladding support
- Metal decking
- Gantries, stairs and hand railing
- Pre-cast concrete retaining walls and floor planks
- Canopies and shelters
ESTIMATING
Our estimating office will probably be your first point of contact with S&A. One of our team will talk you through our process and hopefully take enough detail to provide you with budget prices for costing purposes.
It may be decided that someone comes to visit you to get more information and discuss options, we can then price this so you get the best information. As discussions develop we will price the detail you’ll need to make informed decisions and work on engineering drawings* to ensure the project budgets are met.
MANUFACTURING, PAINTING & SHOT BLASTING
S&A operate from a purpose built 30,000 sqft factory in Barnard Castle. The site has been designed to maximise the flow of steel in a continuous line utilising overhead cranes to move steel efficiently through the building.
Our team of CE certified welders and platers, work to drawings from our in house team to deliver finished product that goes through our shot-blaster, which links our factory and paint shop.
This system allows us to shot-blast and paint to your specification, before finished material is allocated a specific drying area. Without material ever leaving the building there is reduced opportunity for oxidisation.
S&A can also offer fully galvanised steel, working alongside specific quality check partners.
DELIVERY & TRANSPORT
All steelwork is loaded in our yard by trained operatives using our purpose made loading facility. This man safe system allows us to be compliant with the very latest HSE guidelines and means we can handle your goods safely, efficiently and carefully meaning it arrives with you, in the best possible condition.
SITE OPERATIONS
S&A will deliver a speedy erection combined with safe working and adaptability to accommodate change. These are the hallmarks of our site operations, providing clients with a safe, dependable and value for money erection service.
Our site operatives who are all CITB/IPAF accredited, will use S&A owned and branded plant, to deliver a safe and efficient project whilst at all times being adaptable and accommodating of change.
Combined with our in-house drawing office operations, we can deliver on programme and budget and, in many cases, reduce the target programme.
We train, manage and control our resources, continually improving the way we work. We have leading credentials with:
- Managers having attained NVQ/SVQ Level 3-4 certification in construction management (in addition to many years site experience)
- Site supervisors having attained SMSTS 5-Day management accreditation
- Erectors having attained CSCS cards (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
COLD ROLLED BUILDINGS
When it comes to buildings, we aim to offer a solution to meet your budget and requirements. We understand that hot rolled steel buildings are not always the solution and to this end we also offer cold rolled structures. These buildings are CE marked, but can normally be taken from design to site quicker than hot rolled buildings and offer a more cost-effective solution for small structures that don't carry loads.
