Exciting opportunities...

Ali Bell • Feb 06, 2024

Due to significant growth and following a number of large contract wins, three exciting opportunities have arisen for a Business Development Executive, Structural Engineer and Draftsperson to join our team and play an important part in the continued growth of our business.

S&A Fabrications Ltd is one of the UK’s leading providers of steel framed buildings for the agricultural and commercial built environment sectors.

Part of a successful group of companies that also includes Roundhouse Building Solutions and P&K Fabrications, the company operates UK-wide from its manufacturing base in Barnard Castle, County Durham and designs, manufactures and installs projects ranging from small farm buildings to large aircraft hangers.

Business Development Executive

The Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will join an existing sales team and be tasked with generating new business, converting inbound enquiries to secured contracts and growing the value of existing accounts.

You will work across the entirety of the sales process to find potential new customers, initiative and deliver direct contact to new business prospects, present our value proposition to them, uncover their commercial needs, ultimately convert them into clients, and continue to grow business in the future.

About You

At S&A we don't just look at your CV. We're more focused on who you are and your potential which is why we’re prepared to consider a broad variety of people, including those who may not currently work in sales but have the appetite to do so and the competences required. Whilst experience of working in similar sectors would be beneficial, it is not essential.

You will be hungry to close business, comfortable working to targets, and tracking and reporting on sales activity and pipeline metrics. An excellent communicator, you will be confident, outgoing, customer-driven and a “people person”; adept at building outstanding client relationships and comfortable in a variety of sales situations (both face-to-face and telephone based).

You’ll also be highly effective at working collaboratively with internal colleagues, including our Estimating team. You’ll bring a full UK driving licence with a willingness to travel to customers or trade shows when and where required.

Structural Engineer

The Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will head up a new department within the group undertaking the bulk of structural steel engineering work.

You will be expected to work across the entirety of the business helping the sales team deliver efficiency in their quotations, and working with our drawing office to deliver compliant designs for manufacture.

About You

At S&A we don't just look at your CV. We're more focused on who you are and your potential which is why we’re prepared to consider a broad variety of people. For this role you must be qualified but able to develop your own business within the group bringing in and training both structural and civil engineers to allow a strong and cohesive team to be formed.

You’ll also be highly effective at working collaboratively with internal colleagues, including our sales, Estimating and Drawing Office teams. You’ll bring a full UK driving licence with a willingness to travel where required.

Draftsperson

The Role

Reporting directly to the Drawing Office Manager, the successful candidate will work within our drawing office detailing structural steel and cladding.

You will need to have experience of Tekla for this role and we will offer additional training if necessary and dependant upon the successful candidates skills.

About You

At S&A we don't just look at your CV. We're more focused on who you are and your potential which is why we’re prepared to consider a broad variety of people. For this role you must have some experience of Tekla but we are more interested in a person who wants to grow and succeed and wants to be a part of a young and dedicated team.

You’ll also be highly effective at working collaboratively with internal colleagues, including our sales, Estimating and production teams. You’ll bring a full UK driving licence with a willingness to travel where required.

How You’ll Work

We can offer the flexibility of an office role or, for those located further afield, a home-based role with some travel to our office.

We offer

We’ll provide you with a competitive salary, healthcare and pension along with the necessary IT and equipment to fully deliver your role. The business Development role also includes a company car. You’ll be part of a growing business with opportunities for career progression if you demonstrate success in the role.

Generating profit from beef cattle relies on maximising growth rates and feed conversion, but neither will happen to the degree that is necessary, unless the environment for the animals is right from an early age, all the way through to the final finishing stages. Despite this, very few farm buildings provide the consistent level of ventilation that is necessary to ensure a sufficiently good airflow, to maximise health and contentment.
