S&A Fabrications Welcomes Prism Planning and Launches Search for New Principal

Ali Bell • February 11, 2026

S&A Fabrications is pleased to announce the acquisition of Prism Planning, a well-established planning consultancy operating predominantly across the North East of England.

Founded in 2008, Prism Planning has built a strong reputation over nearly two decades for delivering high-quality planning advice, innovative problem-solving and strategic guidance to clients across commercial, industrial, agricultural and renewable energy sectors. While its core client base spans Yorkshire and the North East, Prism has also delivered specialist work nationwide, including renewable energy schemes and projects involving Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

The acquisition forms part of the continued growth of the P&K Construction Holdings Group, which is active in the development of large-scale and prestigious commercial, industrial and agricultural projects. Prism will continue to operate as a specialist planning consultancy, benefiting from the strength, stability and ambition of the wider group.

Leadership Transition and Opportunity

With the retirement of Prism’s current Principal planned in due course, S&A is now seeking to appoint a new Principal to lead the business into its next phase of growth.

This is a rare opportunity to take the helm of an established consultancy with:

  • A respected brand and long-standing client relationships
  • A proven track record in problem-solving and overcoming planning barriers
  • Experience in appeal and enforcement matters
  • Expertise in renewable energy and EIA-related development
  • Strong regional foundations with national reach

The successful candidate will become the key source of planning advice within the company and will guide and oversee the work of the team. The role offers genuine scope to shape the strategic direction of the business and play an influential role in its continued expansion.

About the Role: Principal, Prism Planning

The Principal will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the operation of an established private sector planning consultancy
  • Supervising and auditing the work of team members and directing day-to-day activities
  • Advising clients on the UK planning system and developing strategies to facilitate development
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and assembling effective consultant teams
  • Leading negotiations with planning authorities and statutory consultees
  • Developing innovative strategies to overcome objections to new development
  • Representing clients at planning committees, public forums, appeals and enforcement proceedings
  • Preparing clear, well-reasoned written reports
  • Supporting the marketing and growth of the business
  • Ensuring regulatory and financial compliance appropriate to a small consultancy

The role may suit an experienced planner currently working in private practice seeking greater responsibility, or a senior Local Authority planner considering a move into the private sector.

A Strong Foundation for Future Growth

Prism Planning has long been recognised for its ability to navigate complex planning challenges and deliver commercially sound solutions for clients. With the backing of S&A Fabrications and the wider P&K Construction Holdings Group, the business is well positioned for its next stage of development.

This appointment represents an opportunity not only to lead an established consultancy, but to help shape its future direction within a growing and ambitious group of companies.

If you’ve noticed steel prices creeping up recently, you’re not alone so we thought it was worth explaining what’s going on, in plain English. There’s no panic here, but there are some real factors behind the scenes that are affecting costs across the UK. The biggest one? Energy. Put simply, it costs more to make steel in the UK than it does in much of Europe, largely because electricity prices are higher. And because steel production uses a lot of energy, those costs inevitably feed through into the price of materials.

Agriculture and engineering have traditionally been male-dominated industries, but that is slowly beginning to change. Across the sector, more women are building careers on farms, running rural businesses and working in the industries that support agriculture. At S&A Fabrications, we’ve been building Roundhouses for years—mainly for livestock, feed storage, or agricultural machinery. But every now and then, a project comes along that takes us in a completely new direction. That’s exactly what happened when the team from Kynren approached us with an unusual brief: to create custom Roundhouses to house birds of prey for their upcoming live outdoor show.
