S&A Fabrications Breaks Ground on New £7m Draken Hangar at Teesside International Airport
We’re proud to announce that S&A Fabrications has officially broken ground on a brand-new £7 million hangar development for Draken UK at Teesside International Airport.
The project, delivered as principal contractor, marks another major milestone in the company’s growing portfolio of large-scale aviation infrastructure developments across the region.
We’re proud to announce that S&A Fabrications has officially broken ground on a brand-new £7 million hangar development for Draken UK at Teesside International Airport.
Appointed as principal contractor, we’ll be delivering Hangar 362 — a state-of-the-art facility that will support Draken’s advanced combat aircraft operations, used in training and readiness exercises with the UK Ministry of Defence.
This exciting new project marks another major step forward for Teesside’s growing aviation and defence sector, and we’re delighted to be playing our part in providing the infrastructure that helps make it happen.
Our Managing Director Simon Pelly joined Simon Tate (MD, Draken UK), Phil Forster (MD, Teesside International Airport) and Ben Houchen (Mayor of Tees Valley) to officially break ground and mark the start of construction.
“We’re proud to play a part in this milestone development for Draken and Teesside International Airport,” said Simon Pelly. “Hangar 362 represents real progress — not just for our client, but for the region as a whole — creating opportunities, supporting high-quality jobs, and contributing to the growth of the UK’s defence and aviation sectors.”
The new hangar follows our successful completion of the Willis Hangars 7 and 8 at Teesside International Airport earlier this year — our largest project to date.
Together, these developments demonstrate our continued commitment to delivering complex aviation infrastructure on time, safely, and to the highest standards.
Work on Hangar 362 is now underway, with completion and handover scheduled for November 2026.
