Donation for the crime fighters
A group setup to fight rural crime has received a financial boost to start 2010, with a cheque from S&A for £500 to help pay for equipment.
Farmwatch which has more than 750 members in Weardale, and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year is a voluntary organisation that has been set up to reduce rural crime. Members share information about suspicious vehicles and people in the area and volunteers regularly work with the police during night time operations and phone messaging schemes.
S&A support the scheme as so many of their customers benefit from the good work it does and they also benefit directly as it helps security when on site erecting a building.
Both Geoff Simpson and John Allinson are keen supporters of Farmwatch and agree that the reduction in crime in the Dale is noticeable.
